A fast, safe rebuild of a blog for people living with sickle cell disease, replacing a hacked WordPress site. The author publishes from her phone.

Overview
Ayoola Faith writes a personal blog for “sickle cell warriors”, people living with sickle cell disease, and their families. Her writing is first-person, warm and faith-centred, covering physical, emotional, spiritual and social wellbeing.
This is a full rebuild of the blog: Home, About, Blog, Contact and individual posts, with an editor built into the site.
The challenge
The old WordPress site had been hacked and was serving injected gambling spam, so it had to be replaced, not repaired. Most readers are in Nigeria, on cheap Android phones and slow or metered data. The author is not technical and publishes from her phone.
The solution
- A small, server-rendered Next.js site with no plugins and no database to patch.
- Sanity Studio built into the site, where publishing a post takes a title, a cover image, the body and one tap on Publish.
- Pages refresh within seconds of publishing through a webhook.
- RSS feed, sitemap, Open Graph images, article structured data and breadcrumbs on every post.
- Redirects from the old WordPress post addresses so existing links keep working.
